Breckland Local Plan

September 29th, 2016

Breckland Council has published the consultation document for the Local Plan, which will shape decisions on matters such as planning and infrasructure in the Breckland area for the next 5 years.

The public consultation period is from 19th. September to 31st. October 2016.

In order that all residents of Breckland may have an explanation of the plan, and an opportunity to comment upon it, a series of consultation meetings have been planned at various locations in Breckland.

The details of these meetings are on their website, and a poster with all the dates and venues is now on the Parish Council notice board outside the village hall.

Bus shelter complete

September 15th, 2016

As of 15th. September, 2016 the bus shelter outside Wendling Village Hall has been rebuilt and is complete.

Traditionally styled, of brick with a tiled roof, it is similar to the old one and in keeping with its surroundings.

Thanks to Ian and Mike Martin, builders, for their help in getting it complete in time for the inevitable bad weather.

Summer update

August 25th, 2016

As usual for this time of the year Wendling has been very quiet. Due to the good weather all the farmers in the surrounding area are very happy that the conditions have allowed them to virtually complete the harvest with little disruption.

We are sad to note the departure of the Reverend Robert Marsden to pastures new in the south of England, and wish him luck and every success. We await details of his replacement.

The Bus Shelter is about to be re instated after its untimely demolition, work should start just after the Bank Holiday, so in time for the inevitable bad weather.

The village sign base has been erected and awaits the new sign which should arrive by October.

After the success of the food festival hosted by The Fire Pit Camp at The Firs earlier this year, they now have an event on Saturday, 17th. September as part of the Norwich Slow Food festival and Breckland Food Festival. Starts at 12noon and promises to have something for everyone.

Bus Shelter – R I P

March 12th, 2016

On Thursday 10th March 2016 at about 8.20pm there was a traffic collision in Swaffham Road, Wendling which resulted in the total demolition of the Bus Shelter outside the Village Hall.

This structure has been present for more years than most people in Wendling can remember, and will be sadly missed.

Obviously the shelter will have to be replaced and it would be nice to canvas the opinions of local people as to what should be done.

Does the shelter have to be a direct replacement copy, or would it be appropriate to replace it with something more modern or attractive.

If anyone has any views on this please contact the Parish Council.
